No Silver Bullets
No single technology or pathway can meet the scale or complexity of these challenges. AzCaNE works across disciplines to assess and advance a diverse set of strategies—from long-duration energy storage and electrification to sustainable land use, circular economy and beyond— to build a holistic path toward a carbon-neutral economy in Arizona.

Pathways in Progress
Long-duration Storage and Grid Reliability
Utilities and tech firms are piloting multi-hour batteries, pumped-storage hydropower, compressed-air caverns and low-carbon-intensity-hydrogen turbines to keep renewable power on tap after sunset. AzCaNE convenes these partners to share data and streamline approvals.
Circular-economy Supply Chains
Manufacturers, municipalities and tribal leaders are mapping battery, panel and mineral flows to launch regional reuse and recycling hubs that keep materials and jobs in Arizona. AzCaNE hosts the cross-sector roundtables that drive this work.
Smart Land Use for Clean Infrastructure
Planners, conservationists and developers are targeting brownfields, mine lands, canal tops and parking lots for solar, storage and transmission that can coexist with habitat corridors and agrivoltaics. AzCaNE coordinates site-selection workshops and stakeholder input.
Integrated Modeling for a Sustainable Future
Universities and agencies link demand forecasts with storage, land and material limits to chart carbon-neutral pathways to 2050. AzCaNE curates shared datasets and facilitates roadmap sessions.
